Brighter side of orkutting!

By pein

As I am done with all my projects, I have plenty of free time at hand. I have decided to invest the free time on orkut to find interesting results. I went on sending friend requests to every female profile I came across till orkut refrained me with a “adding friends is disabled” caution. I had interesting conversations with the ones who accepted my request. Since every person is unique and diverse in their own way, their interests hobbies are equally diverse. One has taught me loads about finance and stock trading. Another gave me truck loads of advice about girls. Another about French language. The knowledge i have gained is extensive. It is always fun talking to people with varying intellect. Some sound like kids. Some of them are so mature that they tire and awe me with their ideals and analysis. Some demand an apology for every offense they sense. Loads of Henry David Thoreau’s quotes and discussion on that. Did I tell you that I did my economics assignment with the help of Orkut? Interacting with all these diverse characters at the same time sure is an interesting experience that i will cherish.

No discussion can be neutral without mentioning the cons. In my female pursuit, I have encountered a couple of disturbing personalities as well. And the coincidence is that they belong to the age group of 15-16 and they use internet round the clock. Their albums are full of pictures with suicidal tendencies. Looks like uncontrolled Internet usage at early ages is bearing its fruits.  Internet is a double edged sword and it should be dealt with care. It exemplifies the classic adage: Knowledge without wisdom is dangerous. A technology in its rudimentary stage should be viewed skeptically as its potential dangers are yet to be unveiled and sufficient guidelines should be laid before throwing it out in the open. Hope someone figures out something to get around this problem.
